Want to bring your favorite digital photos with you wherever you go? Turn to the Royal PF110 digital keychain picture frame, which stores up to 56 photos for instant playback. The keychain frame sports a crisp 1.1-inch LCD display that supports a host of formats, including BMP, JPEG, PHG, and GIF. Once the photos are loaded (the unit comes with software and a USB interface cable for file transfers), you have the option of looking at individual photos or creating a slideshow. The software also makes it easy to delete photos, change the size of your original picture, crop images, or create a brand-new image. Finally, the PF110 comes with a rechargeable battery that juices up via either the USB cable or an AC adapter. The keychain frame, which measures 1.7 by 2.1 by 0.6 inches (W x H x D), weighs a mere 0.05 pounds.

Pros and Cons

Pros 5 bucks, i should have known
Cons first one i bought, $4.99. they had dozens marked to this price, this should have been my first clue it sucks. the second clue, when i took off the packaging and the view area was protected by a sticker, which didnt unstick. after 40 minutes of scraping it sensitively to not ruin the screen, i installed the software, followed the instructions and then the item never would power or accept a charge or turn on. I took it back, got a new one, this time it worked. But it would never connect to the software, as the damn thing was recognized. It was plugged it and charging. The factory pictures looked nice enough, although slanted. Probably the worst 5 bucks i have ever spent, including the time i bought a hot dog in downtown toronto and got food poisoning. I will take the food poisioning, at least the hot dog tasted good. Maybe it wasnt food poisioning, maybe it was the 18 beers before I ate it that caused the ill feeling.

I digress. Do not buy this, ever, for any money. If someone gives it to you, throw it away. Quickly, this thing is bad karma.

Review

The instructions on this are not the greatest. I followed them, but someone who is technically challenged would have a hard time following them. It doesn't appear to hold a charge for more than a couple days - and it wasn't being viewed. Once you plug it in to charge and click on charge, it goes to the pictures and never indicates if it is actually charging OR when it is done charging. I may have taken it off the charge too quickly (2 hours) the first time I charged it, so have decided to let it charge overnight this time.

Review

This item technically works to its claims. The software is limited and clunky. DO NOT DELETE THE FACTORY IMAGES. I was able to add images to the factory images and the device works fine. When the factory images are removed, the device does not download images properly, and cannot be reset. Yet, all of the normal download messages appear correctly, until you see "No Image". Also, this item ONLY works with the factory proprietary software. This cannot be used as a memory drive. I'm going to wait for this technology to mature further before trying a digital picture frame again.
